Registration is intended for a simple purpose.  We are not trying to build up a database of personal details.  There is nothing cynical or sinister involved in our request that you register with your LinkingLocals community area site.  In order to develop and improve all aspects of each of the the local area websites that are planned, and with the aim of being of service to the whole community, we would like to hear from you.

Your constructive input is important to us, whether positive or negative.  We think we can make a difference and hope to prove that we can.

The information you provide is only used in connection with this site and is protected by the Data Protection Act and will not be passed on to anyone else or made public unless you expressly wish it.

SO WHAT DOES REGISTRATION ALLOW YOU TO DO

Registering with AboutMyArea  gives you the opportunity to use this community website in a number of useful ways.

Comment by the Community – you can post your comments to the LinkingLocals editor concerning any of the articles posted on the site where there is a comments box set up.  You can send in your views and comments and we will post them on the site for others to view.  You may get a response from other site users or you may not, but you will only be able to have involvement if you are registered.  It can all lead to an interesting read and ultimately be very useful.  Of course, it is also a great way of maintaining contact with fellow residents.

Classified Adverts – watch out for the facility to add your advert to your local site which we intend to make available during 2009.  You will be able to create, edit and then remove your own items for sale; Here's My Card adverts for your local services; notices such as garage sales, lost pets or items that no longer have a place in your homes.  Classified adverts will be FREE and are ideal for anyone living locally.

Monthly Newsletter – Once we have developed at least three local sites we intend to start publishing regular monthly html newsletters which we hope to start producing by the end of 2009.  These newsletters will highlight forthcoming events and any other relevant news and information for you community, direct to your email address.

We very much hope that you will take the time to get involved.
