Happy_residents_posing_with_development_partnersLocal developers Gem Select were brought in to finish off the development.

Grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) helped to meet this unexpected, additional cost and allowed the 13 homes to be finished.

The development features ten two-bedroom homes for affordable rent and three two-bedroom shared ownership properties.

The homes meet Lifetime Homes Standards and comply with the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Nazareth House was a former convent school which has been developed with part refurbishment and part new build to provide housing.

The provision of affordable homes is one of the key aims of Rother District Council, which has devised a number of priority projects to increase the provision of housing in the district.

The objective of such mixed income housing schemes is to enable local people to rent or buy in the area where they have a local connection, reduce homelessness and provide suitable homes for clients in housing need.

Cllr Joy Hughes, Rother cabinet member for housing, said:  “This partnership between Rother, AmicusHorizon, Orbit and the HCA, along with developers Gem Select, has allowed this much-needed scheme to be overcome late obstacles.

“There is huge demand for housing and the scheme will go someway towards helping, but we are determined to do even more.”
Orbit Group development manager Debra Fitzgerald said:  “The creation of these homes has been a real challenge to all involved but we are now delighted with how they have turned out.

"I am confident that the new residents of the homes will feel happy and secure."
