Schools Visit To Rother Town Hall
Students from Catsfield, Guestling-Bradshaw, St Thomas’ in Winchelsea, St Michael’s in Playden and Icklesham schools attended the session.
The day forms part of an ongoing programme to inform schools how Rother delivers its services to residents.
Bexhill schools visited to learn about recycling earlier in the year.
The group were given the task of planning their own town or village and choosing the most important facilities.
Police stations, doctors’ surgeries, food shops and recycling depots came out on top for the children.
Cllr Jonathan Johnson, Rother District Council member for children and youth issues, said: “We hope through this visit the children can gain a better understanding of what Rother District Council is and what we do. We have a close working relationship with all of the schools in the district and provide pupils with a resource pack to assist their understanding of our work.
“It is vital to get young people interested in local decision making and the democratic process at an early-stage as they will shape the future of Rother and the rest of the country in the years to come.”
