Rother District Council Is Good To Work For

Tuesday, 07 February 2012 02:32

ROTHER District Council has been named as the 5th best local authority in the country to work for according to a national newspaper survey.

The Sunday Times Best Companies list was announced this week and confirmed Rother as one of the best public sector employers in the UK.

It was an improvement on the Council’s 14th place in 2008.

The Sunday Times said Rother excels in caring for the ‘wellbeing’ of its staff -  one of their key judging criteria, with just ten organisations in the entire public sector ranking more highly overall.

The Council achieved high scores in realistic deadlines (63 per cent of staff), a happy work and home balance (68 per cent) and staff not suffering stress (71 per cent).

Council management also rated highly, with 68 per cent of staff believing the authority is run on strong values.

Rother District Council chief executive Derek Stevens achieved top-ten rankings for his leadership of a mid-sized organisation.  He was ranked as the third best local government chief executive under the ‘leadership’ criteria.

Mr Stevens said:  “I am delighted Rother has been recognised as one of the best Council’s in the UK to work for.

“It is a testament to every employee at all levels of the organisation.

“We have a commitment to developing our employees and listening to what they say – this is reflected in our excellent overall score.

“I would like to thank all of our staff for making Rother District Council such a great place to work.”

Perhaps we could all get jobs in Rother and everyone would then be happy.
